Shown recently at an Oswego Rotary Club meeting at the Oswego Country Club, L to R: Kellye Buckalew, Nya Buckalew, Rotary exchange student, and Sabine Ingerson, past president and secretary, Oswego Rotary Club.

OSWEGO – Nya Buckalew, sophomore at Oswego High School, recently spoke at the Oswego Rotary Club meeting at Oswego Country Club about her upcoming year as a Rotary International Exchange Student. The Rotary Youth Exchange Committee selected her to be matched with a family in Finland, although the specific family has not yet been chosen.

Buckalew is a member of the spring lacrosse team and works at Ontario Orchards. She became interested in becoming an exchange student when her aunt hosted a student from Italy. She has long had an ambition to travel and see places other than Oswego. She is a lifelong Oswego resident and appreciates the improvements in the city in recent years and the lake.

Buckalew will leave for Finland in early August and will live and study there for about eleven months.

Buckalew is the daughter of Anthony and Kellye Buckalew. missing or outdated ad config
