Oswego Schools, Novelis To Host STEM Night

OSWEGO – The Oswego City School District and Novelis will hold a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Career Exploration event on Thursday, November 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Oswego High School cafeteria.

The goal for the evening is to help high school students and parents acquire a better understanding of career opportunities associated with STEM fields.

Professionals from Novelis will provide a short presentation, as well as fun activities and demonstrations and a question and answer session.

Station activities are set to include laser alignment testing and laser machine geometry, automation and electrical engineering and electrical motor testing among many others.

New York companies have more STEM jobs that there are qualified candidates to fill them and the demand for new STEM graduates is twice the amount of non-STEM fields.

The event is free and open to all students aged 12 and older.
