The Oswego Sub Shop will serve as the “Official Lunch Sponsor” of this year’s Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation Golf Classic, to be held Monday, August 4th at the Oswego Country Club, according to Event Chairman Kevin Caraccioli.
This is the third consecutive year that the Oswego Sub Shop has provided lunch on the course for the golf event.
The Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation was established in 2007 by Oswego-native, NHL hockey player, Stanley Cup Champion, and U.S. Olympian Erik Cole. The foundation and this year’s golf/hockey events will benefit youth hockey programs, as well as children who are suffering from cancer and other diseases.
“We’re extremely pleased to have the Oswego Sub Shop continue to partner with the tournament as our lunch sponsor,” said Caraccioli. “They are a longstanding tradition in the Oswego-area, and the Greene Family has always been big supporters of Erik, and the sports community.”
The Oswego Sub Shop, established in 1969, is located at 106 West Bridge Street in Oswego and offers a variety of subs, delis, wraps and salads.
Two years ago, the restaurant introduced a new entrée to their menu, “The Erik Cole Special”- a Texas Hot Bacon Cheeseburger Sub with everything but tomatoes.
The 4-person captain-n-crew tournament, which now is filled with 36 teams, includes 18 holes of golf at the Oswego Country Club, golf cart, a delicious lunch provided by the Oswego Sub Shop, cocktail party, dinner, tee and green signage and a gift bag. Tickets for the cocktail party and dinner can be purchased separately for $45 per person. The dinner is being sponsored this year by AT&T. Those interested in just attending the cocktail party, dinner and auction should make reservations no later than Saturday, August 2nd.
Breakfast, registration and goodie bag pickup, as well as use of the Oswego Country Driving Range and Putting Green will be available from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Team photos and celebrity introductions will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by an 11:00 am shotgun start. Cocktails and a silent auction begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by dinner, an awards presentation, and live auction starting at 6:00 p.m.
According to Caraccioli, this year’s golf tournament, sponsored by Pathfinder Bank, will showcase Cole, as well as other NHL players, national and regional media, and local celebrities. Celebrities committed thus far include: Oswego native TJ Fox, forward for the AHL Worcester Sharks; Carolina Hurricanes Defensemen Joe Corvo; Chicago Blackhawk Center Kevyn Adams; and New York Rangers Defensemen Andrew Hutchinson.
Along with the Golf Classic, this year’s event will also feature a Youth Hockey Classic, presented by Nike/Bauer, and supported in part by the Oswego Blue Line Club and Oswego Minor Hockey Association.
The new 3-on-3 Youth Hockey Classic is slated for Saturday, August 2nd and Sunday August 3rd at the Campus Center Ice Arena at SUNY Oswego.
