PALERMO – Palermo Elementary students from every grade level took part in the school’s second Trick or Trot run on Friday, October 23, according to a release from the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation.
Physical education teacher John Hansen organized the event, which gave students an opportunity to get outside, stay active and enjoy a seasonal school activity.
Students ran a course around the back of the school during the morning, enjoying autumn weather despite a chill in the air. They had apples and cider after finishing the race.
Hansen thanked the Mexico CSD Grounds Crew, Appledale Orchards, Wegmans, Palermo Elementary PTC and custodian Scott Mehlin for their work and donations. He also recognized Palermo Elementary Principal Robert Briggs.
“Mr. Briggs is a huge supporter of this event and PE as our building principal,” Hansen said. “Furthermore, the support of our teachers and support staff helps make this event even possible. Our staff always go above and beyond for our students. It takes everyone to make an event like this successful. Palermo is truly a special place.”
The school’s Trick or Trot run promoted physical activity, school spirit and a sense of community, with students across the building taking part in the seasonal celebration.
