Parade of Trees Begins Monday

FULTON, NY – The Friends of History in Fulton, N.Y., Inc. will be hosting it’s annual Christmas Parade of Trees Monday through Dec. 12 at the John Wells Pratt House Museum, 177 So. First St., Fulton.

This is the 19th year for this event and it has drawn a total of 14 lovely theme Christmas trees decorated by local organizations, clubs, youth and children’s groups.

Visitors will vote for their favorite trees in three categories: Adult, Youth, and Children’s with voting closing Dec. 7. The winners in each category will receive a first prize of $100, second prize of $75, and third prize of $50 at an award ceremony Dec. 12 at 10 a.m.

“For the entire 19 years of this display, Fulton Savings Bank has sponsored the first prizes and Streeter & VanSanford, Inc. has sponsored the second prizes,” a spokesperson said. Karen Hammond of Dowd’s House of Flowers will sponsor a third place prize for the third year and William Hubel of the Blue Moon Grill will be a sponsor for the second year. We welcome Garry Stanard of Gosch Supply & Lighting Centre, who will also sponsor a third place prize this year.  A sincere thank you to Len Ellis of Bob’s Liquors for eleven years of dedicated sponsorship.  The Friends of History extend their appreciation to the sponsors for their loyal support of this popular community event.”

The public is invited to be the first to view the decorated trees on Monday and Tuesday,  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

“This is a perfect activity for holiday guests,” the spokesperson noted.

The display will continue Nov. 26 through Dec. 11, Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m.  Greeters will be available to give tours of the museum.

“The museum is proud to be a drop-off site for this year’s Toys-for-Tots campaign,” the spokesperson said. “Please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy when visiting during the Parade of Trees and bring joy to a child during this holiday season.”
