OSWEGO, NY – This week’s Pet of the Week is something different.

Our barn cats.

For a variety to reasons – sometimes because we have taken in a mother and her kittens and the mother was trying to survive on her own and was never well-socialized, sometimes because we take in kittens that are just a little too old to socialize easily, we end up with cats in foster care who will probably never be happy as house cats.

We have several now.

They are healthy and spayed and neutered and have been around people, but mostly they just want to keep to themselves and lead their cat lives on their own.

They would do well in a working barn where they would provide rodent control, and probably entertainment if you are fascinated by cat behavior, if you would provide fresh food and water.

You need to have a place in your barn where they can be confined for about two weeks so that they will get accustomed to the sounds and smells (not that we are insinuating that your barn smells).

Please contact our office at 315-207-1070 during office hours or via email at [email protected] to find out more about our barn cat program.

Not every cat needs a lap, but every cat needs a home.
