PHOENIX, NY – On any given day, you’ll find that Our Family to Yours Cafe, located in Phoenix, celebrates veterans of all military branches every day of the year
Walking through the cafe, you’ll find their Wall of Honor extending down through the restaurant on the left-hand side. It’s filled with framed photos, as well as brass plates with service members names and service dates.
The Wall started as a way to honor many of the Phoenix breakfast spot’s regular customers, who are veterans. The cafe’s oldest honoree served in WWII, with the latest discharge date from just a few years ago.
The restaurant now acknowledges not only regulars, but family members of patrons, and others that patrons wanted to honor.
“Our guests are welcome to bring in pictures,” Our Family to Yours Cafe owner Fran Thomas said. “We’ll make copies and frame them. For those without photos, we’ll put up a plate with name, branch, and service dates.”
Although the wall has three dozen photos and plaques full of brass plates, the Thomas family has plenty of room for more.
Our Family to Yours Cafe is open six days a week (closed Tuesdays) for breakfast and coffee. The cafe is open from 7:00 a.m. to noon on weekdays and 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on weekends.
