Phoenix Named a Best Community For Music Education

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Central School District has again been recognized by the National Association of Music Merchandizers as one of the country’s Best Communities for Music Education.

This is the sixth consecutive year Phoenix received the distinction, which acknowledges schools and districts throughout the nation for their commitment to and support for music education.

According to the organization’s website, the program “evaluates schools and districts based on funding, staffing of highly qualified teachers, commitment to standards, community support, participation and access to music instruction.”

New York State again dominated the list, accounting for 120 of the 476 school districts honored this year.

Phoenix is one of two districts in Oswego County to earn the distinction.

Throughout the Phoenix Central School District, musical opportunities are abound: elementary musical instrument introductions and chorus, middle school and high school bands and chorus, marching band, winter drumline and musicals.
