The annual event is the culmination of a yearlong effort in which each class receives points for completing various service projects and for displaying school spirit.

The seniors were tied for the lead going into the competition and they pulled ahead in the competition.

Divided into four sections representing freshmen, sophomores, junior and seniors, the JCB gymnasium was booming with noise and excitement as students cheered on their classmates.

Competitors participated in relay races, scooter races, an obstacle course and tug-of-war to determine which class would emerge victorious.

While the senior class was declared the winner of the competition, the event was more about school spirit and Firebird pride.

“It’s a chance to get the whole school together as a family,” said teacher Lisa Spereno. “The Battle of the Classes is always a great event and it shows unity.”
