Plan to Attend “Harvesting Profits from Your Livestock”: A Marketing Workshop

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County is hosting a livestock-marketing workshop entitled “Harvesting Profits from Your Livestock” on March 24th, 2010 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The workshop will be held at the Mexico VFW on Scenic Ave in Mexico, NY. Please join us for this full day of information. The speakers will be as follows:

  • Mike Baker, Beef Cattle Extension Specialist from Cornell University will be presenting about marketing methods, what impacts the value of feeder cattle and where we are in the current cattle cycle.
  • Kathleen Harris from the Northeast Livestock Processing Service Co. will
    present on the Northeast Livestock Processing Service Company, LLC and “Farmers Working Successfully with Processors.”
  • Bernadette Logozar, the Rural & Ag Economic Development Specialist – Franklin County NNY Regional Local Foods Specialist. She will be presenting her livestock marketing tool kit.
  • Matthew LeRoux, Marketing Specialist with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County will be presenting on marketing local meats, what consumers are looking for, and how to evaluate different marketing opportunities.
  • Paula Schafer, Agriculture Economic Development Educator in Saratoga and Washington Counties. Paula will explain her “Farm to Chef” work connecting producers and restaurants.

“Harvesting Profits from Your Livestock” would not be possible without help from sponsors, including Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, JJ Feeds and the New York Beef Producers Association. Cost is $25/first person from farm business; $15/each add’l person (includes lunch and most materials). Livestock toolkits will be available for purchase.
