Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Helping People, Pets Find More Happiness

Porky and Buddy

Dear readers,
Remember that kid’s song that goes, “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands?”

In the New York Times online this morning we read a Metropolitan Diary entry about a little girl on the subway just after the Paris attacks who got the whole car to sing along. You can find it at NYTimes.com. Just search for Fighting Fear with Nursery Songs.

Pretty soon you will be clapping and stomping and shouting “Hooray!”

“What does this have to do with animal welfare?” you might be thinking.

Well nothing much, really.  It just made us happy and we wanted to pass it along.

But we have been thinking lately about how we, as the spokesanimals for a small animal welfare non-profit in a small rural county in Upstate New York, fit into the larger scheme of things – when there is so much hatred and misery in the world and when it seems that people everywhere are so angry about so much.

What  we do is find homes for pets that would otherwise not have one and help people get their cats spayed or neutered who could not otherwise afford it.

This past year, that means that 195 cats and kittens and 29 dogs and puppies found homes so far and 506 cats were spayed or neutered and will not produce more homeless kittens.

And that means that 224 pets and their new people found a little bit more happiness this year.

It also means that many poor families that love their cats but struggle to care for them found a little bit more  peace of mind this year.

We would love to do more and we depend upon the support of all of you to help us expand our services and grow.

You can never have too much happiness.

So, thanks to all of you for helping us to create more!

One way to create more happiness for both yourself and the homeless pets of Oswego County is to adopt one.

The adoption fee for all of our grownup cats is only $25 for the whole month of December.

Doesn’t it make you want to clap and stomp and shout “Hooray?”
