PSC’s Doing It Our Way Basketball Program to Start

FULTON – “Doing It Our Way” is a program offered through Parents of Special Children, Inc., which provides opportunities for special needs individuals to participate in recreational activities that they may not otherwise be able to join.

The purpose of the program, which is now in its sixth year, continues to be an encouragement of being a team player, having positive sportsmanship and living an active lifestyle.

Along with our special needs participants, the agency encourages peers (children, teens and adults) to join them as role models and “big buddies” to interact with.

It is often difficult for our individuals with special needs to fully participate in typical sports programs, yet they enjoy it just as much as their peers.

Doing It Our Way provides opportunities for their families to have the same type of experiences with a level of competition that meets their abilities.

The basketball session is a free event and will run on Saturday mornings, 10 – 11, at the Granby School Gym in Fulton, starting March 5, and go through May 7.

For planning purposes, it is strongly recommended for all participants to register with the agency.

Bring your siblings, friends and a water bottle and let’s get active!

Parents of Special Children, Inc. provides opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to have similar experiences as their peers.
