Public Information Meeting On Route 104B Highway And Bridge Work

The New York State Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting to discuss upcoming highway and bridge work on Route 104B in the Town of Mexico, Oswego County. The meeting will take place on Thursday, August 6, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Village of Mexico Office, 3236 Main Street.

Bridge work will be performed on the Route 104B bridge over the Little Salmon River, located 1.2 miles west of the Route 104B junction with Route 3. The work will consist of concrete deck repairs that require the bridge be closed to all traffic for approximately four weeks. A signed detour will be in place, using State Routes 3 and 104.

Highway work will consist of pavement removal, with asphalt recycling, and paving Route 104B from Mexico to New Haven. Construction should be completed this fall.

This preparatory project on Route 104B is being performed in advance of the bridge replacement project on Route 104 over Catfish Creek, scheduled to begin in the spring of 2010. The bridge will be closed to all traffic for approximately four months while it is being replaced.

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the upcoming project, to make initial plans available for viewing, to address concerns and answer questions on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies.

This public information meeting is part of the continuing efforts by the department to encourage public involvement in the development of transportation projects.

The meeting location is handicapped accessible. Please contact John Sexton at (315) 428-4476 if a sign language interpreter, augmented listening system or any other accommodation will be required to facilitate your participation.
