Pulaski community welcomes Hartwell during Meet the Superintendent Night

With new leadership in place in the Pulaski Academy and Central School District, the community recently had a chance to meet the new superintendent and chat with him about his experience in education and the qualities he brings to the district.

Brian Hartwell, who began his service as superintendent in August, said the Pulaski community has welcomed him with open arms.

“Everyone is just very supportive,” Hartwell said. “The community is a very tight knit, close group and there’s an expectation of success — that’s the team I want to be a part of.”

That team came out to support Hartwell when representatives from the PACS Board of Education, teachers, faculty, parents, students and community members welcomed him with handshakes and pats on the back during Meet the Superintendent Night at Lura Sharp Elementary School in late September.

The conversation and open communication during the event are something Hartwell said is important.

“Whether you are a superintendent, a mayor, or any type of public figure, it’s important to be available and ready to answer questions that are asked,” he said. “Open and honest conversation is absolutely a priority.”
