Pulaski Health Center Donates Funds for Annual Scholarship

AVON Fundraiser 2009

PULASKI, New York – The Pulaski Health Center continued their annual funding recently of a scholarship in memory of Kathleen A. Ellis.

Ellis was the first nurse practitioner in New York State, and the Pulaski community mourned when she lost her battle with cancer and died in December of 1996 at the age of 52.

The Kathy A. Ellis Scholarship is awarded to individuals entering a program or continuing education in the field of nursing.  In order to qualify to apply for the scholarship, the candidate must be enrolled or have been accepted into accredited licensed practical nursing, registered nursing or nurse practitioner programs.

Recently, the staff and board members of Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc. (NOCHSI) held an Avon fundraiser to help maintain the scholarship fund.

Shown pictured presenting the proceeds from the fundraiser are from left to right: Daniel T. Dey, CEO of NOCHSI; Beth Hallinan, Chairperson of the Kathy Ellis Scholarship Committee; and Linda McNitt, Avon consultant.

Anyone wishing to make additional donations should send them to KAE Scholarship Fund, Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc., 61 Delano Street, Pulaski, 13142.

NOCHSI operates four school-based health centers in Oswego County, and also operates the Pulaski Health Center at 61 Delano Street in Pulaski, New York.  The Pulaski Health Center is a family-oriented health care practice that provides Northern Oswego and Southern Jefferson County residents with a variety of comprehensive health care and related services.  The center is accredited through The Joint Commission (formerly the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations).
