School safety is on the forefront of everyone’s mind and is a top priority for school and public safety officials.
Being able to effectively identify the threat of violence and intervene before an attack occurs is one of the single most important aspects of school safety and was the focus of two recent seminars coordinated by the Security Department at Oswego County BOCES and the State University Police at Oswego.
Regional K-12 & post-secondary educators, administrators, counselors, and school resource officers participated in the seminars that featured multi-disciplinary professionals from Oswego County BOCES, the New York State Police, United States Secret Service, and United States Army.
The presenters discussed how to effectively assess and manage a potential threat and a dialogue about actively engaging the entire school community in this process.
