Sandy Creek Elementary School first graders recently celebrated their reading accomplishments during the annual Reading Tea event.

Reading Tea is the culmination of what the students learned in English Language Arts throughout the school year.
The first graders talked about their favorite fiction and non-fiction books, browsed through their memory books and read books or poems to guests.
As a thank you to parents for their support this school year, guests received a paper tea cup favor with a tea bag tucked inside.
First grade teacher Cammie Holmes said the goal is to have first graders read fluently and write sentences and paragraphs by the end of the school year.
