State Senate candidate Dave Renzi was joined by Asseemblyman Dave Townsend Sunday as they met voters in Phoenix, Oswego County.

Assemblyman Townsend is known as an outspoken voice for change and reform in Albany. He and Renzi discussed the need for reform, as well as Darrel Aubertine’s record, which includes voting against key measures aimed at increasing transparency and accountability in Albany.

Renzi has made changing Albany a major part of his campaign against a six-year incumbent who recently was scored among the least effective legislators by NYPIRG, the good-government group.

“Dave Townsend is a great leader, who knows the value of hard work in delivering results for his constituents, but like me, he is dissatisfied with the Albany insiders and the lack of reform in Albany,” Renzi said.

Renzi said New York City Democrats have repeatedly blocked efforts to reform Albany, by increasing accountability and transparency.

For example, he cited a series of reform measures that were blocked last year by Democrat leaders in the Assembly. Darrel Aubertine followed the lead of New York City Democrats in voting against all of the reforms.
