Submitted article

SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station will be open to the public several Sunday afternoons for the remainder of 2008.

The station’s research building and grounds will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on these Sundays: Sept. 7 and 21, Oct. 5 and 19, Nov. 2 and 16, and Dec. 7.

Funding from the Natural Heritage Trust makes the additional hours possible.

Trails on Rice Creek Field Station’s 400 acres of fields and forests surrounding Rice Pond are open every day from dawn to dusk. The research building is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

The field station accommodates the general public and serves as a center for college courses and research. It is located on Thompson Road in the town of Oswego, a quarter-mile south of Route 104 and the main SUNY Oswego campus.
