Riley Sixth Graders Step Up

OSWEGO, NY – The Charles E. Riley Elementary School Honors Assembly brought the sixth graders career at the east side Oswego school to a conclusion.

Principal Dr. Randy Richards hosted this year’s event as the senior members of the school were recognized for their accomplishments.

Richards presented the Principal Citizenship Award to Connor Sheffield while the two Triple “C” recipients included Erin Delaney and Reilly Patrick.

Other important awards included the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence and the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement. The “excellence” honors were given to students who have an overall average for three years of 90% and have scored 85% or better on either the DRP Reading Test or the NYS Math Test.

Students earning the “excellence” certificate included Erin Delaney, Zachary Gillard, Matthew Lewis, Ashley Murtha, Connor Sheffield, Alison Smith, mark Taromina, Grace Gilbert, Alex Kunzwiler, Bradley Lupien, Reilly Patrick, Jacob Sivers and Zachary Smolinski.

The recipients of the “achievement” certificates included Alecia Ascenzi, Michael Cali, Alexis Hanna, Liam Peterson, Lauren Wallace, Kaylee Baldwin, Abbe Hammond, Erin Meehan, Shelby Ruel and Mercedes.

Students were also recognized for their efforts in band, orchestra, vocal music, art, technology, social studies, science, math, language arts, spelling and reading.

Derrick Johnson was the recipient of the perfect attendance award for the 2008-09 school year.
