Ritchie Seeks Nominations For 2013 ‘Women Of Distinction’

State Senator Patty Ritchie is now accepting nominations for the New York State Senate’s 2013 “Women of Distinction” program.

The program honors women’s history in the Empire State by recognizing outstanding leaders and everyday citizens from the present who are making a difference.

“The Central and Northern New York regions are home to so many people who work tirelessly to make a positive impact on their communities—and many of those people are women,” said Senator Ritchie.

“The New York State Senate’s Women of Distinction program has allowed me to recognize these women for their contributions, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to once again acknowledge the achievements of women in our communities and thank them for their hard work.”

Women living in the 48th Senate District, including Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties are eligible for nomination.

All nominees will be invited to a local recognition ceremony, and one individual from each State Senate district will be selected to travel to Albany to be honored at a special reception on May 17.

Their photo and biography will also become part of a display that travels across the state to bring attention to the achievements of distinctive New Yorkers.

Last year, nearly one dozen women in Central and Northern New York were nominated for the program.

Of the nominees, Jan Rebeor of Fulton was selected as the 48th Senate District’s “Woman of Distinction.”

Family, friends or coworkers can make nominations by visiting www.ritchie.nysenate.gov or calling 782-3418.
