OSWEGO – More than $15,000 was raised by more than 400 participants in the fourth annual Run for Dennis 5k Run/Walk, held on March 14, to honor the memory of Oswego resident Dennis Pacheco (5/28/59-3/17/11), a victim of bladder cancer, it was announced by Jessica Newson, race director and Pacheco’s daughter, and Jane Pacheco, co-director and Pacheco’s wife.
“This year’s event was our best yet, and is such a wonderful way to remember and celebrate my father’s life. We hope that by raising awareness of bladder cancer, we can decrease the number of families affected by this terrible cancer.” Newson said.
“We have raised more than $50,000 over the past four years – which has been donated to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, The Charles and Mary Haney Cancer Giving Fund, and Strong Memorial Hospital Urologic Oncology department, Rochester, specifically Dr. Edward Messing,” Newson said.”
These organizations conduct research for, as well as give support to Bladder Cancer, and Oncology patients, both in the local CNY area, as well as nationally.
