Sandy Creek Students Selected to Perform at Prestigious Music Festivals

Band students Helen Harris and Claire Willson represented Sandy Creek at the All-County Music Festival in Fulton.

SANDY CREEK, NY – Exceptional band and chorus students from Sandy Creek Central School District recently performed at the Oswego All County Elementary Music Festival and the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Area All-State Music Festival.

The two-day All County festival was held at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton and comprised of sixth-grade musicians from every Oswego County School District.

Band students Helen Harris and Claire Willson represented Sandy Creek at the All-County Music Festival in Fulton.

The sixth-grade students selected to represent Sandy Creek for band were Helen Harris and Claire Willson. Amelia Crast, McKenzie McGrath, Orrin Mautz Burnett, and Logan Allen were all selected to represent Sandy Creek for chorus.

The Zone 5 NYSSMA Area All-State Music Festival was held at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam and included high school students from Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. The Sandy Creek High School students who were selected to attend were Daltyn Landas and Nathaniel Curry for chorus, and Trevor McDougal for band.

Once students were selected, they devoted additional time at home and at school to prepare multiple high-level pieces of music, which they later performed at the festivals alongside of hundreds of other students.
