The Sandy Creek Central School District Varsity Cheerleaders were named Frontier League Winter Champions for Class C at a cheerleading championship held at Sandy Creek on January 12.
The squad, coached by Tanya VanOrnum, also received the Sportsmanship Award and VanOrnum was named Coach of the Year Winter 2012/13 Division C & D.
The Frontier League Championship featured several exhibition squads and brought teams from schools such as South Jefferson, General Brown, Watertown, Indian River, Thousand Islands, Belleville Henderson, LaFargeville, Copenhagen and Lyme to Sandy Creek High School.
Individual All Star Awards were also received by the following members of the Sandy Creek squad including: Emily Calabria, Kendra Valley, Christina Saber, Val Kampff, Sammi Pandolfi, and Lexi Goodnough.
Members of the Sandy Creek Comets squad are: Emily Calabria, Sara Castor, Lexi Godnough, Lindsey Goodnough, Tara Huggins, Val Kampff, Bailey Lundre Sammi Pandolfi, Deanna Rusz, Christina Saber, Clarice Thibault, Brittany Valley, Kendra Valley, Cait Williams and Jasmyn Williams.
