Santa Claus Arrives at Marine Museum Dec. 12

After his arrival by U.S. Coast Guard Cutter, Santa greets young holiday visitors during the H. Lee White Marine Museum's annual "Christmas At Sea" Open House which is scheduled for December 12, 2010, from 1:00 - 4:30 pm. The program is free and features Christmas model train and theme tree displays, crafts, storytelling, homemade cookies.

The H. Lee White Marine Museum is pleased to host our annual “Christmas at Sea” Open House on Sunday, December 12 from 1-4:30 pm. Come celebrate the holiday season in Oswego’s gaily decorated “Historic Maritime District.“ This program is free of charge.

Munch on homemade cookies while enjoying our uniquely decorated holiday trees. This year’s theme trees will highlight maritime knots, lighthouses, and snow and ice. Model train displays will be exhibited throughout the building courtesy of the Oswego Valley Railroad Association and Museum. A vintage Waterfront Village is featured under the twelve-foot high Christmas tree.

At 2 pm, Santa arrives by boat, transported to the West Pier by the United States Coast Guard-Oswego Station’s Cutter. There is no need to have your child wait in a long line. Unlike a mall store, children can participate in crafts, listen to stories with Grandma Christmas, hear music or watch the train displays run while waiting to take their turn with Santa Claus. He will not leave until he hears every child’s wish.

In addition, the new H. Lee White Marine Museum Art Gallery presents a temporary exhibit of winning artwork from the annual Oswego County student art contest, “Art & History Rule!” Students from around the county enter every year and their work will be on display through December 23.
