The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corp Truxtun DDG-103 Division Oswego as part of its monthly training spent time this past weekend training at the U.S. Coast Guard, Oswego.

Training the cadets from the Coast Guard were boatswain mate 2nd class Plyer and Quick FA Schram and ME 3rd Munson. BM 2 Quick a very proud coxswain explained the operation of steering the boat and many nautical terms. The cadets were also taught some knot tying and the proper ways of handling lines with safety so that they wouldn’t become a victim of a serious injury. They were taught how the boats get underway and how they dock when they come back in. BM 2 Plyer along with Munson and Schramm explained survival gear and let the cadets don the gear. They were also informed about the importance of the communication center. The cadets were very thankful to the Coast Guard and look forward to coming back again for more training and possibly spending some time training with the Coast Guard.
