OSWEGO COUNTY – For A fun-filled, one day retreat is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10 at Camp Hollis. Situated along the shores of Lake Ontario, Camp Hollis is located three miles west of Oswego at 40 Health Camp Road. The county is celebrating 32 years of Senior Camp. Geared especially for residents 50 and older, this year’s theme is “Live Your Best Life.” With this theme our speakers and activities will focus on enhancing our well-being including our physical and mental health.

The retreat kicks off at 8am Tuesday, September 10 with camper sign-in. Our morning begins
with Tai Chi, a gentle stretching exercise led by Alex Sorbello from Blue Feather Wellness in Fulton, NY.
Monica Johnson, representing Aurora of Central N.Y. will give us her inspiring story of living independently with vision loss.
Our craft activity led by artists from the Salmon River Fine Arts Center will be painting decorative rocks. You can display your creativity.
Our musical entertainment will be provided by Merlyn Fuller, also known as Merry Mischief She is a well-known singer/actress who performs at many events. . While enjoying the music, campers can satisfy their sweet tooth with make-your-own sundaes courtesy of Byrne Dairy.
Back by popular demand, Cathy Bonoffski will lead us with Silver Sneaker exercises using resistance bands and balls.
Our keynote speaker is Oswego Health cardiologist Dr. Thomas Grady. He will speak on heart health so that we can “Live Our Best Life.”
Our day also includes a hot noon meal, our famous auction, bingo, door prizes and other outdoor fun activities. Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the day and a boxed cold plate will be served at supper time. Please be advised that Senior Camp may not be able to accommodate dietary restrictions.
There will be free time to socialize and explore some of Camp Hollis’ 40 acres and nature trails. Camp Director Zach Grulich will lead a guided walk. The shoreline restoration project is complete, and we are now able to access the shore. Attendees can also sit outside on the new deck to enjoy a view of beautiful Lake Ontario. The day winds down with s’mores, popcorn, singing and stories in the lodge
Senior Camp relies on the generosity of program presenters, donors ,and area businesses including Burger King, Byrne Dairy, Dunkin, Ontario Orchards, Price Chopper, Walmart, Stewart’s Shops, Tops Friendly Markets, Oswego Big M, Elks Lodge #271, GJP Italian Eatery, Hudson Dairy, Pepsi Corp., Coca-Cola Corp., Vona’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Huhtamaki, and OCO Nutritional Services.
Senior Camp takes place twice a year while students are still in school. Camp Hollis events are managed by the Camp director as a program of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
