PHOENIX – Ten John C. Birdlebough High School students recently showcased their talents, fashion sense and verbal communication skills during the seventh annual “Mr. Phoenix” competition.

The all-male pageant featured freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who sang, performed skits, did stand-up comedy and other routines to win the judges’ votes.
Senior Dixon Ameele earned the title of Mr. Phoenix after outdueling his peers in the competition.
Contestants also included seniors Cade Reed, Sean Sievers and Zach Neupert; juniors Eddie Zellar and Griffin Goodnow; sophomores Dylan Schaffner and Darren Fischel; and freshmen Noah Gordon and Jock Li.
Emcees for the evening were seniors Natalie Hart and Catherine Musumeci, who introduced each contestant and kept things running smoothly during transitions between acts.

In addition to providing a night of entertainment, the event also served as a fundraiser that benefited the senior class.
According to JCB English teacher Lisa Spereno, $372 was collected as part of the fundraiser.
