OSWEGO – Shineman Foundation Awards $31,700 in Community Impact and Community Enrichment Grants to Support Oswego County Nonprofits
Oswego, New York – The Richard S. Shineman Foundation has awarded grants totaling $31,700 to not-for-profit organizations in Oswego County during its Summer 2025 community grant round. These grants will support initiatives in civic engagement, education, food insecurity, and youth development, furthering the Foundation’s mission to enhance the quality of life for residents in the region.
Grants include:
? ARTswego: Awarded $5,000 for the Paza Experience, which will bring Native American performance artists to Oswego for 2 days of workshops and performances.
? Fulton Betterment Corporation (Special Events Committee): Received $3,200 to provide free trackless train rides at the Fulton Fall Festival on October 4, 2025.
? Make – A – Wish: Awarded $1,000 to provide Oswego County high school students the opportunity to learn about philanthropy through the Make – A – Wish Foundation while working as wish granters for others.
? Mexico Food Pantry: Awarded up to $5,000 to replace their commercial refrigerator.
? Operation Northern Comfort: Awarded $10,000 over the next 2 years to purchase and install wheelchair ramps and lifts for Oswego County residents in need.
? The Syracuse City Ballet: Received $5,000 to bring the Nutcracker Ballet to Oswego. They will hold auditions and rehearsals in Oswego, creating equity and opportunity for local students to be a part of the performance.
? Oswego City School District: Granted $2,500 to purchase supplies for the K-8 science and engineering initiative.

Shineman Foundation Announces New Grant Opportunities:
In addition to these awards, the Shineman Foundation has announced the opening date for the fall grant round, which includes Community Enrichment Grants, Community Impact Grants, and Strategic Grants. These grants provide funding opportunities for projects that align with the Foundation’s mission of enhancing and improving the quality of life for residents of Oswego County.
The Community Enrichment Grant provides up to $2,500 to support local events, programs, and activities that enhance cultural experiences and foster a sense of belonging.
The Community Impact Grant program offers grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 for initiatives addressing critical needs, including health, early childhood development, and the arts.
The Strategic Grant program is for requests exceeding $10,000 and requires a Letter of Intent (LOI) prior to submitting an application.
