Sports Boosters Honor Warrior Student-Athletes

HANNIBAL – Hannibal Central School District’s student-athletes earned recognition during a year-end banquet for their accomplishments on and off the field.

Sponsored by the Hannibal Sports Boosters, members of the varsity and junior varsity coaching staff lauded athletes for their success during the fall, winter and spring sports seasons.

Coaches spoke about each player’s ability to juggle academic and athletic commitments, and encouraged them to continue giving 100 percent in everything they attempt.

“I want to tell you how much I love watching you compete,” said longtime coach and PE teacher John Manion, who will retire at the end of the year. “Remember to play the best you possibly can every minute … and always have fun doing it!”

Throughout the evening, several awards were presented in a variety of categories such as team MVP, leadership and most improved.

Special recognition went to Sean Mason (Chuck Lum Track Award); Logan Fenske, Dakota Thibault and Mason Garbus (Jimmy Butterfield Memorial Sportsmanship Award); Hannah Kuc and Zach Williams (Most Outstanding Senior Athletes); and Velvet Howland and Sean Mason (Scholar Athletes of the Year).
