“I am pleased with the decision by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to renew the operating license for the James A. Fitzpatrick Nuclear Plant, operated by Entergy Nuclear. The NRC approval is based on the plant’s safety systems, environmental impacts and the plant’s ability to handle the effects of aging. Today’s announcement is important because it reinforces to the community that the Fitzpatrick Plant continues to be managed and operated safely. Additionally, this is great news for our area. This news will ensure that Central New York continues to realize the benefits of locally generated electricity and will protect hundreds of good paying jobs.”
