According to coordinator of the Step By Step Wellness Program, Pam Peeling, MICA will focus on helping individuals who are seriously contemplating or beginning to work on their recovery. “The MICA support group will focus on topics such as; the early warning signs, understanding addiction, and relapse prevention. Through education and support we will design an individual wellness plan that will address the mental and emotional issues associated with addiction, help participants with daily living skills, goal planning and overall healthy living. For those in need of a more intense program, we will provide assistance in accessing an outpatient or inpatient program that will suit their unique needs,” said Peeling.

The Step By Step Wellness Program uses a wellness recovery model that provides services to adults diagnosed with a mental illness. Through various programming the program supports clients with their recovery, promotes wellness, and combats the stigma of mental illness. Various program offerings help individuals increase their self-esteem, establish group affiliations, and maintain independence in the community.

Step By Step’s Mental Illness and Chemical Addiction groups will meet on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 – 2 p.m. and will be held at the Step By Step Wellness Program’s site inside of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, 365 W. First St. in Fulton.
