Step By Step Wellness Program To Host Open House

PULASKI, NY – The Step By Step Wellness Outreach Program invites community members to learn more about the many services the program offers during their open house celebration. Scheduled for Dec. 5 the open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Step By Step Wellness Outreach location in the Christ Our Light Church, 23 Niagara St. There will be free refreshments, giveaways, a coupon workshop and a presentation on making healthy snacks.

Provided through Catholic Charities of Oswego County, the Step By Step Wellness Program uses a wellness recovery model that provides services to adults diagnosed with a mental illness. Through various programming the program supports clients with their recovery, promotes wellness, and combats the stigma of mental illness. Various program offerings help individuals increase their self-esteem, establish group affiliations, and maintain independence in the community.

While the Step By Step Wellness Program in based in Fulton, its Outreach Program brings the benefits of the program to other locations in Oswego County.  Pulaski is the first community in which the Outreach Program has been established.

“We are happy to have our new location in Pulaski,” said Program Supervisor, Tim Archer. “The Step By Step Wellness Outreach Program offers a variety of components to assist clients with their recovery from a mental illness including; prevocational services, supported educational services, peer supports and advocacy, and assistance in individual goal planning and achievement. Our open house will give community members the opportunity to meet staff, and learn more about the Step By Step Wellness Outreach program and how it benefits its consumers.”

Catholic Charities of Oswego County serves all people in need regardless of their religious affiliation. Primary funding sources for Catholic Charities of Oswego County programs are the United Way of Greater Oswego County, the Diocesan Hope Appeal, the County of Oswego and private donations by individuals and local companies and organizations.
