Participants in Oswego County BOCES’ Stepping Stones Day Program had their appetites for knowledge satisfied during a recent lesson in agriculture.

Armed with a variety of farm-fresh products, Oswego County 4-H Program educator Debbie Halliday shared her expertise with students on the Blue Team in Robyn Yorker’s class.
Students were challenged to identify a variety of items as either a fruit or a vegetable.
According to Yorker, there were a few surprises along the way as Halliday showed the students that many familiar food items do not belong in the categories expected.
As part of the lesson, students also participated in a guessing game where they used clues about the foods presented.
The activity culminated with a taste test, which provided students with an opportunity to sample some of the fresh food items they learned about during the lesson.
