FULTON, NY – Children, parents and grand parents can enjoy an entertaining and enlightening adventure together when they visit the new Success By 6 Born Learning Trail.
One of only 3 in New York State, the Born Learning Trail is located in Hulett Park / CV Abbott Playground on Division Street.
Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward and a number of city officials joined community members, including C.V. Abbott and his family as program coordinator Ali McGrath and volunteers from the Success 6 Program celebrated the grand opening of the Born Learning Trail on June 19.
Sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted those who enjoyed exploring the trail and everyone was treated to snacks and refreshments.
“It was a great turnout,†said McGrath. “Thanks to the combined efforts of the city of Fulton, a number of caring companies and our valued volunteers, our youth can enjoy an exciting new addition to the community. The Born Learning Trail is a wonderful experience and I invite parents, grandparents, and other caregivers to bring their children to enjoy a fun trip through the Born Learning Trail.â€
Consisting of a series of 9 ‘learning stations’ the Success By 6 Born Learning Trail uses the surrounding environment to promote learning for youth 5 and under.
Each sign along the trail encourages children to do a different activity such as: finding certain flowers or trees, noticing different colors, count, hop, find different shapes that exist in nature, and other activities that they are able to learn from.
The purpose of the trial is to motivate children and help them learn some of the fundamentals of education before they enter school. It also provides parents, grandparents and caregivers with an excellent opportunity to be involved in an educational and fun activity with their children.
Born Learning is a national public engagement campaign built on awareness, education and action to help parents, caregivers and communities create learning opportunities for young children
