The Born Learning Trail, which will be located in Hulett Park in Fulton, will consist of a series of nine learning stations that utilize the surrounding environment to promote learning for youth five and under.

Project coordinator Ali McGrath said, “Each sign along the Born Learning Trail will encourage children to do a different activity such as: finding certain flowers or trees, noticing different colors, count, hop, find different shapes that exist in nature, and other activities that they can learn from.”

According to McGrath, the concept of the trail is to motivate children and help them learn some of the fundamentals of education before they enter school.

It also provides parents, grandparents and caregivers with an excellent opportunity to be involved in an educational and fun activity with their children.

Construction of the Born Learning Trail is scheduled to begin in May with an anticipated grand opening in mid June.

“We are looking forward to hosting an exciting opening day celebration,” said McGrath. “We will be inviting representatives from the Wal-Mart Super Center in Granby, who are providing funding the trail, as well as officials from the city of Fulton as the city is helping to provide the concrete that is necessary for the trail. We will also be having a cookout and free refreshments for the children and parents that come out to see the trail on opening day.”

Born Learning is a national public engagement campaign built on awareness, education and action to help parents, caregivers and communities create learning opportunities for young children.
