Oswego, NY – Sunrise Residential Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Oswego recently recognized a number of employees for their years of service, according to Joseph Murabito, Sunrise Administrator.

The recognition coincided with National Nursing Home Week this past May 8-14, and included a luncheon at the Sunrise facility, as well as a dinner at the Red Sun Fire Roasting Company in Oswego.

“This special week spotlights nursing home residents and staff, and encourages making positive differences in lives every day,” said Murabito. “It also provides an opportunity to honor those who contribute to our nation’s nursing homes – including residents, family members, employees, and volunteers.”

According to Murabito, this year’s theme, “Fulfilling the Promise,” was especially reflective of the employees at Sunrise, who by serving others, add value to life and help individuals overcome the infirmities of age and disability.

“We’re extremely grateful for the commitment this team of employees has provided Sunrise,” said Murabito. “We have staff members including Mary Coleman, who have been ‘fulfilling the promise’ to Sunrise residents for 34 years, who have a true understanding of this facility. And, it is one that goes beyond the shingles, corporate structure and business operations. They have stayed all of these years because of the residents and the self-fulfillment they get when they hear those million quiet ‘thank yous’ from grateful families.”

Employees that were recognized are as follows (with length of service in parentheses):
Mary Coleman (34 years), Diane Whitney (33), Betty Ellis (33), Anne Miceli (31), Cathy Hawkins (31), Barbara Jacques (30), Doreen Shortt (28), Karen Shear (27), Shirley Lamie (22), Cindy Murray (16), Linda Taylor (15), Laura Snyder (14), Cheryl Hunter (9), Robin Sherman (9), Claudia Leotta (9), Karen Ladd (9), Kimberly Brown (7), Alisha Conklin (7), Karen Crisafulli (6), Helen Hamilton (6), Dawn Maynes (6), Aletha Matott (6), Pamela Bedford (6), Ericka Hall (6), Tammy Lopergola (6), Kimberly Munski (6), Miranda Jordal (6), Michele Colon (5), Lara Hoyt (5), Clark Wolf (5), Eric Bloodgood (5), Harry Taylor (5), Kelly Tottman (5), Lori Sherman (5), and Rebecca Gibson (5).

The commitment and loyalty that is evident within the Sunrise facility is also being encouraged through a decentralized form of operations that has been recently introduced at Sunrise Residential Healthcare and Rehabilitation, whereas staffers are taking on more responsibility and ownership of the building operations.

“We are building our operation around the Sunrise Team,” said Murabito. “I would love to see more Mary Coleman’s at our facility… and we are… because that commitment, sense of pride, and ownership, has a direct impact on the quality of life for our residents.”
