Oswego, NY – The employees and staff at Sunrise Residential Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Oswego made the holidays a little brighter this year for the local community and Oswego Salvation Army with their annual holiday canned food drive, according to Sharon Kirk, Director of Recreation Therapy at Sunrise.
“The holiday canned food drive has become a wonderful tradition for Sunrise and our employees,” said Kirk. “There is such a demand for outreach in this community, and our employees were very pleased to be able to once again contribute to our Oswego Salvation Army.”
According to Kirk, the employees were able to participate in “Jean Days” at the Sunrise facility on Fridays leading up to the holiday season, in exchange for them making donations to Sunrise’s annual holiday canned food drive.
“Everything helps and the many different outreach opportunities held throughout the year at Sunrise has now benefitted families in need this holiday,” she said.
According to Sunrise Administrator Joe Murabito, the health facility has also adopted a family within the community this holiday season, and will be providing gifts prior to Christmas.
“Our involvement in advocacy opportunities like the canned food drive through the Salvation Army and now the Adopt a Family program are not only important to the employees, but a strong component of our mission as an organization,” Murabito said.
“Sunrise owners Joe and Alma Castaldo have been supporters of the Oswego Chapter of the Salvation Army for years, and Mrs. Castaldo even served on their advisory board for over two decades.”
According to Major Corinne Hayes of the Oswego Salvation Army, the outreach on the part of Sunrise and their employees was very helpful this holiday.
“We greatly appreciate our longstanding partnership with the Castaldo Family and the employees and staff at Sunrise,” Hayes said. “They have truly helped brighten the holidays for many this season.”
Sunrise Residential Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center is a family-owned and operated, 120-bed long-term and sub-acute care facility located at 17 Sunrise Terrace in Oswego.
