OSWEGO — For many small businesses, gaining government contracts may seem too challenging, but it could be just a matter of knowing the process, which can be learned during a workshop from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 17, at SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center, organizers said.
“Government contracting can provide a boost to small business,” said Tammy Anderson, contract manager for SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center in the Oswego County Industrial Park, off State Route 481. “Once people know where to look and understand the process, the potential for new business can be great. The problem is that the process can seem daunting and many people are intimidated by it.”
Less than five percent of businesses in the United States do business with the federal government, despite the fact that new opportunities worth approximately $1 billion in the services sector of government contracts are available to bid on every day, she added.
The workshop will provide valuable tips for businesses to differentiate themselves from competitors and successfully earn business with federal and state governments, Anderson said. The workshop will be held in SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center’s computer lab, where participants will gain hands-on experience.
