Art Can Change the World; Positivity Through Art 2D Mural
Oswego, NY – [October 25th 2024] – the SUNY Oswego art and design department is excited to announce the installation of a 2D outdoor mural on the north-facing wall of Tyler Hall. This project aims to foster a spirit of positivity and enhance the campus environment. This semi-permanent project will not only uplift the space, previously occupied by a bulletin board with health and safety concerns, but also align with campus-wide initiatives to create a welcoming atmosphere for students.
The mural will feature designs created by current graduate and undergraduate students, highlighting their artistic talents while encouraging community engagement and involvement. “We believe that art has the power to uplift and inspire. This mural will not only create a safer and more inviting environment but will also celebrate the creativity of our student body.” said [Danny Rafferty], [Graduate Student and Project Manager] at SUNY Oswego.
The mural installation is part of SUNY Oswego’s ongoing commitment to improving campus life and fostering a sense of belonging for all students. The initiative is expected to bring numerous benefits to the entire campus community, reinforcing a culture of positivity and collaboration.
The unveiling of the mural and celebration of completion reception is on October 25th 5-7pm. The unveiling will be outside of Tyler Hall at 5pm at the mural, which is located between Tyler Hall and the quad. After the unveiling we will have the reception inside Tyler hall in the 2nd Floor Corner Gallery. This is a free event open to everyone. Come join us to celebrate the mural, talk with the artists, and see our process video.
