SUNY Oswego’s Publishing Festival is Right Around the Corner

OSWEGO – SUNY Oswego is going to host the third in a series of biannual publishing festivals on October 15th. The event will be hosted on campus at Marano Campus Center 132 from 3:00 to 4:20pm. It will feature three guests, two of them being SUNY Oswego alumni, who are highly trained in the field of editing, business and media agency. 

– Becky Oliver DiGenova graduated from SUNY Oswego in 07, and since then has edited for Forbes, business and financial advisory site Seeking Alpha and now works as a senior editor for Fitch Ink. 

– Susan Velasquez Colmant graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2016, having been published in the school’s own literary magazine, GLR, three separate times. She currently works as a literary agent for JABberwocky with a particular interest in romance and fantasy. 

– Shannon Plackis graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2016 and since then has become a senior editor for Avon Books, an imprint of HarperCollins. She has been working in the field of publishing for almost a decade now, and has given publishing opportunities to such authors as Kate Clayborn and Annie Rains. 

The topics these three panelists will discuss will cover a wide variety of career paths and opportunities to learn about the business in writing and publishing both fiction and nonfiction. Doors are open on the 15th; be sure to stop by!
