OSWEGO – The Oswego High School Music Department’s upcoming production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” opening this week, ranks among the most ambitious undertakings in the history of Buccaneer theatre.

With a mammoth set depicting three stories of vignettes within the macabre atmosphere of Victorian London and a cast exceeding 60 members, “Sweeney Todd” will take the stage on Feb. 9 and 10.
“Everything is super-sized with this production,” said director Garrett Heater.
The titular Todd is played by senior Nolan Callahan, with fellow senior Leah Mullen as his companion Mrs. Lovett.
Heater had high praise for his leading man and lady, both of whom have “developed within the program” of OHS theatre.
“[Callahan and Mullen] have maturity and responsibility beyond their years and there’s no substitute to that,” said Heater. “We treat all our cast and crew like the young adults and artists they are.”
Performances will be held Feb. 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robinson-Faust Theatre of the Performing Arts at Oswego High School.
