This summer at David Webb Taft Bay Park, the children in the recreational program decided to give back to their community.
At Taft Bay Park, the kids are provided with food and a snack each day.

So, the counselors came together and decided that the recreation program should return the favor.
The community also helps support the recreation kids and other members with the backpack buddies program, in which food is distributed to those in need over the summer.
With all of this help and support for the kids, a can drive was the perfect opportunity for an outreach project, according to. AmeriCorps worker Cassandra Tighe.
She decided to hold a can drive for the North Shore Food Pantry who has recently found a new home due to the closing of the Cleveland school.
For a little incentive, the kids were given a prize for each canned good they brought in up to five.
Over the two-week period, a total of 42 canned goods was donated by 17 kids and two counselors to the North Shore Food Pantry.
The food will help to feed the 60 to 70 families that visit the food pantry over the winter months.
