Thanks For Making Haunted Harbor A Success

The H. Lee White Marine Museum would like to thank Wayne’s Drugs as our main sponsor and the Oswego Elks Lodge as our children’s activity sponsor for their support of the Tales of the Haunted Harbor” that was held on Friday, August 19th.

Despite the many other events and activities going on that evening, over 100 people attended the annual event. We know this because each person receives a specially made ghost pop as they enter the Historic Maritime District gate. We’d also like to thank the Oswego Railroad Museum for their support during the event.

The longstanding tradition started by Mrs. Rosemary Nesbitt several decades ago, continues thanks to Jonel Langenfeld Rial, a professor of Theatre at SUNY Oswego. This year four to five ghostly figures appeared as well as the Monster of Lake Ontario to help tell the tales. Children had a great time making “spirit” catchers at the craft table and the Oswego sunset was as beautiful as ever. Traditional stories such as the Seneca Hill ghosts, the Monster of Lake Ontario and the true story of the Lighthouse disaster were well told.

We plan to add a new element each year and hope this becomes a new tradition for the greater Oswego community.

Thank you
