The LT-5’s History to be Highlighted

OSWEGO, NY – As part of the commemoration of the 70th year of the H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center’s National Historic Landmark World War II Tugboat, LT-5, Captain Lance Knapp will give a presentation on the history of the vessel, which served in the Normandy Invasion.

Knapp spearheaded the restoration efforts of the tugboat over the last 20 years and maintained the fully operational vessel until retiring last year along with his first engineer Don Smith.

The presentation is part of the museum’s Celebrating Our World War II Heroes event is set for August 25 starting at 2 p.m.

World War II veterans and their families are invited to the museum for this special recognition.
