OSWEGO – As families across the Greater Oswego community prepare to send kids back to school this September, the Oswego YMCA is helping students and parents get ready to thrive through safe, supportive, and engaging programs that ease the transition from summer to school.
August is National Back to School Month—a time to sharpen pencils, pack backpacks, and get ready for a successful year ahead. For many local families, it’s also a time to reconnect, build new routines, and find support at the Y.
“For generations, the Y has been a trusted partner for families as they head back to school,” said Cheryl Baldwin, Oswego YMCA Executive Director. “Our programs go beyond afterschool care. They build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging for every child and family.”
At the Oswego YMCA, Back to School Means:
- Safe, Enriching Before and Afterschool Care enhanced with enhanced LEAPS afterschool programming: Students get homework help, stay active, and build positive relationships in a safe, supportive environment.
- Youth Sports & Enrichment: Kids build teamwork, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits.
- Family Support: Parents and caregivers can recharge with fitness programs, wellness resources, and a welcoming community.
Families can learn more and sign up for fall programs at oswegoymca.org. Financial assistance is available to ensure every child can participate. More information is available at the YMCA or by calling 315-342-6082 option 0.
“We invite everyone to find their place at the Y this school year,” said Baldwin. “Back to School is about more than classrooms, it’s about belonging.”
