Oswego, NY – The third annual Day of Sharing benefit for this holiday season’s US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program will be held on Saturday, November 26th at the Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront Hotel, located at 70 East First Street in Oswego.
The mission of the Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December each year, and distribute the toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. This year’s program is well underway and will run through Monday, December 19th.
The Day of Sharing festivities begin at Noon on the 26th with the arrival of Santa Claus on an Oswego Fire Department Fire Truck. Children can then have photos taken with Santa until 2 pm. The photos are free, with a contribution made to the Toys for Tots Drop box at the event.
The annual Tunes for Tots benefit will follow that day from 2 pm until 6 pm, with live music being provided and donated by a variety of CNY musicians.
“We are really excited about our third annual Day of Sharing event,” said local Toys for Tots Coordinator Chris Jones. “Last year’s event helped provide toys to 140 families within our community, and we hope to top that total this year.”
According to Jones, the community support for this year’s toy drive has been considerable and major sponsors including the Broadwell Companies (Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront, Best Western Captain’s Quarters, and GS Steamers), Oswego-based marketing firm Step One Creative, the Oswego Firefighter’s Association #2707, and the Oswego Lake City Police Club have joined on to support the program.
“The Toys for Tots program is a wonderful organization and an amazing provider for families of the Oswego community and thousands of others across the country,” said Shane Broadwell, general manager of the Quality Inn & Suites. “We’re proud to partner with Chris once again on such a worthwhile cause.”

Drop off box locations within the Oswego community include: Burger’s Okinawan Karate School, Novelis Corp, Canale’s Restaurant, American Legion, VFW, Lighthouse Lanes, Oswego County FCU, Azteca Restaurant, Wal-mart, JC Penney’s, Raby’s Ace Hardware, River’s End Bookstore, Alliance Bank, Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront, Best Western, Bridie Manor, Lisa’s Centre of Dance Artistry, Burritt Motors, Planet Fitness, VA Clinic, City Hall, K&G LODGE/ 1881 Steakhouse, Dynamic Sound & Security, Clearview Pool & Stove, Big Lots, A Finishing Touch Salon, Beacon Hotel, Leo Pryor’s Taekwondo America, All Kinney Locations, Supercuts, Oswego Family Physicians, and The Oswego Police Department.
