FULTON – The Fulton community will once again come together to celebrate the season at its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, December 6th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Veterans Park, the City of Fulton Community Room, and All Saints Episcopal Church on South First Street.
Since 2023, the tradition of selecting a special Luminary to light the Christmas tree has honored individuals who exemplify community spirit by generously giving their time, talent, and support to improve the quality of life in Fulton. This year, the Fulton Special Events Committee is proud to name Tim Carroll as the Community Luminary.
Carroll has been a dedicated supporter of community events, recreation, and local history in the Fulton community for decades. Carroll co-authored “Hiding From The River: A History of Lake Neatahwanta”, leads the city’s “Intro to Bird Watching” program, serves on the City–School Synergy Committee, and creates and sells annual bird calendars, donating all proceeds to local organizations. His deep commitment to Fulton’s natural spaces, community activities, and civic partnerships has made a lasting contribution to the city he calls home.
Mayor Jim Rice reflected on Tim’s influence, saying, “As a child growing up in the same neighborhood, Tim Carroll represented everything we should aspire to. His dedication to our community extends far beyond the role of a childhood mentor. I join the Special Events Committee in congratulating this year’s Luminary, Tim Carroll.”
Co-author and community historian Jim Farfaglia shared similar praise: “Tim Carroll is a perfect example of what it means to actively love your community. He is involved in many projects that make Fulton a better place, and each time he shows up to support an activity, he brightens the lives of everyone around him.”
Chris Waldron added, “If an environmental, educational, or recreational program has happened in the Fulton community, chances are Tim Carroll played a role in making it possible. Tim’s passion, selflessness, hard work, and unwavering dedication have made Fulton a better place. He is a great selection to light this year’s Christmas tree.”
Sean Broderick summed up Carroll’s impact simply but powerfully: “Tim Carroll loves Fulton and our community. He is not only unbelievably positive about all the things happening in Fulton right now, he is often present at these special events. He inspires and influences others in such a positive way. We are grateful Tim Carroll is part of our community.”
The Fulton Special Events Committee invites residents of all ages to attend this year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony to help celebrate the start of the holiday season and honor Tim Carroll for his decades of dedication to the community. The event will feature activities, holiday music, food, and opportunities to support local organizations, along with a fireworks display.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony is free to attend and open to the public. For more information about the upcoming “Tree Lighting Ceremony,” please visit the Special Events Committee Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SpecialEventsFultonNY.
