Top Fundraising Sixth Grader Joins Hannibal Classmates At Jump Rope For Heart Event

HANNIBAL – The Kenney Middle School Jump Rope For Heart event will be held at the school, 846 Cayuga St., Hannibal, on May 3 from 2:35 – 3:20 p.m.

Kenney sixth grader Carl Emmons III is raising money for the American Heart Association in honor of his twin cousins who were both diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.

Last year, Carl raised more than $1,000 for his cousins.

Carl and his classmates will celebrate this year’s Jump Rope For Heart campaign and get jumping on May 3.

Jump Rope For Heart teaches students how physical fitness benefits the heart and shows them that volunteering can be a fun and positive experience for the whole community.

The need to educate children about the importance of physical activity couldn’t be timelier.

According to recent studies, about one-third of children ages 2 to 19 are overweight and obese.
