Town and Village of Mexico Launch Farmers’ Market

MEXICO – The Town and Village of Mexico will launch the Mexico Farmers’ Market on Tuesday, July 2 at the athletic stadium behind Mexico High School, 3338 Main St. It will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 27.

The event is an effort to support area farmers and provide opportunities for residents and visitors to buy local agricultural products. There will also be live music at the Village Gazebo, courtesy of the Mexico Chamber of Commerce, a selection of food trucks and some children’s activities.

The Mexico Farmers’ Market is still accepting applications from agricultural, food and craft vendors as well as not-for-profit organizations interested in sharing their programs and resources with community members. Those interested in being a vendor can find an application at https://mexicony.org/farmers-market.html. Vendors can participate with a seasonal pass that covers all nine weeks of the market for $100, or by the week at $15 per week.

This event is part of an effort by the Town and Village to develop a new Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan. Other partners include Mexico Academy and Central School District, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District.
